Jack Rudd Gets an IM Norm in Round 9 with 2 Rounds left to play after winning this afternoon in just over 2 hours play against Yang-Fan Zhou an under 13 prodigy from Richmond Juniors. After the Opening went badly wrong, Jack fought back well turning a drawn position into a winning advantage in breakneck speed to leave him nicely placed on 6/9 and even an outside chance of becoming British Champion with only 2 Rounds left! Wins on Saturday against Francis Rayner and again on Monday against IM Jeff Horner has left Jack Rudd only a point adrift of the outright leader Bogdan Lalic who Jack should have got at least a Draw against last Friday. Jack played well against GM Glenn Flear with the Black pieces today comfortably managing a Draw in Round 8 to add to his Draw in Round 1 against GM Keith Arkell. Steve Dilleigh is battling hard with a respectable 3/8 after a good draw against Mark Lyell lasting 84 moves on Monday.
