Simon Buckley (Keynsham CC) qualified for the British Championship with
a last gasp effort at the Midlands Open in Manchester (3-5 July). He scored
4/5 to finish tie second.
Simon, 13, will be joining his 15 year old sister, Melanie, who qualified last month at the Suffolk Open. The Championship, sponsored by Smith & Williamson, will feature Nigel Short and Matthew Sadler as the top seeds. Hanham's Chris Beaumont will also be there, having qualified at the WECU Championships.
