Jack Rudd scored an
impressive 6/9 in the Hastings Masters which included a win against
Ukranian GM Valerij Neverov in Round 2. GM Neverov won the
Hastings Masters last year and finished joint first in this years
event on 7/9 only losing to Jack.
In Round 8 Jack Rudd played Australian IM John
Paul Wallace, chess journalist and coach from Sydney and threw
caution to the wind sacrificed his Rook on a1 and launched into a
19th century-style attack as described on the Hastings Chess Website
Hastings Chess Website and is one of the games entered for the
brilliancy prize. After JP Wallace played Qc5 allowing Nc7+, Jack's
attack entered overdrive taking pieces for a past time.
Draws against GM Colin McNab & IM Andrew Greet in
the final round finished of an impressive display.
