Sadly I have to report that Alan Sherman (86) has passed away.  He was involved for many years at Downend & Hanham Chess Clubs back in the 1970s & 80s and is remembered as a true gentleman, quiet, unassuming and an ideal club member.  Our thoughts go out to Andrew, and all the Sherman family, and friends that knew Alan.
