“8 of the BristolJuniors took part in the first ever Bristol Blitz Championship on Sunday Nov 24th.

The Venue was Bristol Grammar School, and the format was 11 blitz games over the day, with a time control of 5 mins each, plus a 3 sec increment.  The winner was David Buckley, who just managed to hold his nerve (more to follow) to get a very impressive 100% score of 11/11.

For our players, Chirag and Oli played well to share the Junior prize, both on 7/11.

Chirag - Junior Prize Winner
Oli - Junior Prize Winner playing against IM J.Sherwin

Max was just behind with 6.5/11. Max had a very exciting game against David Buckley in the last round were he was well on course for a draw, but slipped up (as you do) with very little time left. David let out a big sigh of relief, as he just managed to pull through, and hold on to his full house score.

Max - draws in the crowd

Yuvraj was just half a point behind Max on 6/11 with a performance well above his current grade. Jack and Aron finished on 5/11. Jonathan on 4.5 and Bilal on 3.5 . All in all a very solid day from the ‘Young Guns’.
