Junior Chess in Bristol is certainly thriving !

South Bristol Juniors, Knights of Bristol and Downend Juniors, all had impressive results at the recent Bristol Megafinal (BGS)

And so did Kandara !

For the boys there were 6 out of 6 winners in the different age sections :

  • Under 18 Boys: Aron Saunders 6/6 (D &F)
  • Under 14 Boys: James Thomas 5.5/6 (D & F)
  • Under 12 Boys: Jake Binu 5.5/6 (D & F)
  • Under 10 Boys: Anay Misra 6/6 (KoB)
  • Under 9 Boys: Carolus Tang. 6/6
  • Under 8 Boys: Hector Hu 5.5/6 (KoB)

For the girls there were also excellent results, with two winners :

  • Under 18 Girls Champion: Kandara Acharya 4.5 points
  • Under 12 Girls Champion: Nayra Charlesworth (KoB) 4.5 points

Other notable qualifiers through to the Gigafinals :

  • Under 18 Boys: Freddie Pick (SBJ) 2nd with 4/6
  • Under 18 Boys: Jonathan Zeng (KoB) 3rd with 3.5/6
  • Under 18 Boys: Advay Misra (KoB) 3rd with 4.5/6
  • Under 12 Boys: Alexis Malibiran (D&F) 2nd with 5.5
  • Under 12 Girls: Avina Soleimani (KoB) 3rd with 3/6
  • Under 8 Boys: Muiz Ul Meeran (SB) 2nd with 5/6
  • Under 8 Girls: Anvitha Manjunath (D&F) 2nd with 3/6

In the under 14 Boys Elliott Bleeg and Soumil Saha (KoB) both shared 4th place with fine scores of 4/6

In the Under 12 Boys Rayyan Mussa (KoB) played very well and scored 4/6

In the Under 9 Boys Siddarth Krishna (D&F) and Lucca Machado also played very well and scored 4/6.

The following also qualified for the Gigafinals with 3.5 points : 

  • Knights of Bristol – Sonny Hancock, Aarav Theja Kadiyala
  • Downend Juniors – Charlie Higgenbottam, Medhansh Tyagi
  • South Bristol Juniors – Walter Rogers

Bristol Junior Chess is growing so fast at the moment, it’s quite hard to keep up with it !

    Thank you very much to Mr David Kan for looking after the Bristol Junior Chess, and thanks for all the great work he has done with it. We are truly indebted to him. That is another coffee I owe him (and cake).

    I hope those new to this site will look back at some archive stuff from a few years ago (Millfield International etc), and some pretty nice juniuor games on here as well.
